Faced with the challenging task of educating someone in the fine art of driving a manual transmission car?  Created by Jim Bacon, a former SCCA driver and instructor, the CATCH POINT METHOD© relies on an audio tape and an instructional manual to present a straightforward, step-by-step approach that familiarizes the student with the basic mechanics involved in manipulating the clutch and gear lever while helping the individual build self-confidence.  The Catch Point Method© is currently used in over 100 school districts throughout the country to develop an understanding of what is happening mechanically instead of merely focusing on the timing or coordination aspects, thus eliminating much of the fear, tension, and grief normally associated with the learning process.
